Description
The quickest way to change a table is to change what sits under the plates. These are hand-dyed cotton with a soft fringe, cut generously at 35 x 45 cm so a dinner plate and a glass both fit comfortably. The mustard is warm rather than bright – it flatters wood, white and linen equally.
Because the dye is applied by hand, no two sets are identical, and the tone softens into something more lived-in after a few washes. Use all four together for a set table, or split them across a kitchen table and a desk to bring the same colour into two rooms.

Material & finish
The placemats are cut from cotton cloth that is dyed by hand, which is why the mustard has a little variation across the set – deeper at the edges, lighter where the dye took unevenly. That is the point: it reads as a textile rather than a printed mat. The fringe is knotted at the edge and softens after the first wash.
